SOLU M, the electronic part supply company, has entered the Apple’s supply chain (SCM). The company is expected to grow through cooperation with the global IT company, Apple.

According to related officials on the 21st, SOLU M has been approved by Apple and started supplying power supplies.

Details regarding the product and amounts are not confirmed, it is known that SOLU M’s power related parts were applied to Apple’s high performance flagship product.

This is the first time SOLU M has done business with Apple. Also, it is reported that SOLU M is the only company that supplies power related parts to Apple from Korean parts industry.

Apple has been purchasing semiconductors, displays, camera related parts from Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, and LG Innotek.

SOLU M becoming Apple’s supply chain is interpreted as being recognized for its competitiveness in design, quality, and mass production.

It takes at least two years to become an Apple’s partner. Apple is famous for meticulously verifying the entire company, including engineering design capabilities, quality control, and manufacturing capabilities. The fact that SOLU M was selected as an Apple’s partner means that they already have gotten global competitiveness.

SOLU M was established as a spin-off from Samsung Electro-Mechanics in 2015. They are manufacturing power modules for TVs, servers, and LED lighting and adapters for mobile devices, and are also promoting and expending with electronic price display (ESL) and Internet of Things (IoT) field. The supply of an integrated board (3 in 1) that combines an image board, power, and tuner for TVs from Samsung Electronics helped the company to achieved sales of over 1 trillion KRW last year. The business sector is divided into electronic components that are in charge of power modules, integrated boards, and tuners, and ICT that makes ESL and IoT products. The electronic component division accounts for about 80% of total sales.

Apple develops and sells iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, iMacs, monitors, and set-top boxes (Apple TV). Since SOLU M has just become an Apple’s partner, it is expected to supply limited power supplies to some of their products. However, as they succeeded in entering the strict Apple’s SCM, the industry is paying attention to their performance since they are expected to actively promote volume expansion such as product diversification.

Regarding the deal with Apple, SOLU M stated, "We cannot confirm any detail related to our customers."
