LG Energy Solution (CEO Jong-hyun Kim) announced on the 16th that ‘LG Energy Solution Innovation Forum 2021’ will be held on the 22nd through an online seminar.
 
This event will have LG Energy Solution members and battery experts participating to discuss research directions and vision of battery technology.
 
LG Energy Solution explained, “This first technology seminar is meaningful, since it is to lead the global market by propelling the development of next-generation batteries and materials.”
 
The event will be divided into 10 sessions, and will be held in the form of an online seminar focusing on innovative technologies related to lithium-ion and next-generation batteries. The event will be held from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Korean time on the 22nd and will broadcast live for the general public to participate as well.
 
The presenters are scholars with groundbreaking research achievements in energy fields around the world, including Korea, U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, and Germany. Professor Stanley Whittingham, a Nobel Prize winner for discovering the principle of ‘intercalation electrode,’ a core principle of lithium batteries, is participating and is under the spot loght. He will be giving a lecture on “Battery Research and Development (R&D) Overview” at the event. In addition, award-winning scholars for innovative achievements in various battery technology fields will be presenting as well.
 
Geun-chang Jung, LG Energy Solution research director (Vice President,) is a keynote speaker on major R&D strategies. Vice President Jung is a cell development expert in the automotive battery field, and has led the development of high energy density and charging cells in 2017.
 
Myung-hwan Kim, the CPO of LG Energy Solution, said, “This forum will provide in-depth insight from world-class experts in the field of battery research on the directions of next-generation battery research. I hope that the innovative research data of the presenters will help create and expand the battery industry ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, LG Energy Solution plans to organize the forum with a different theme each year that can contribute to the representative event of R&D battery technology.
