Naver Cloud and Jeju Tourism Organization signed an agreement on Wednesday to set up “Jeju smart tourism governance”.
Main points of the agreement are continuous cooperation in infrastructure technologies related to big data-based tourism service platform and exchange of all sorts of services and products for setup of Jeju smart tourism governance.
Jeju Tourism Organization is currently working on preparing smart tourism through a project involving development of big data-based tourism service platform. The purpose the agreement is to seek synergy through cooperation and convergence by establishing collaborative governance with private companies in order to strengthen Jeju smart tourism’s leadership.
The agreement will have Naver Cloud provide information on popular tourist spots in Jeju Island and degree of congestion in a corresponding location based on big data analysis through Naver cloud platform and recommendations on popular restaurants and guidance on popular tourist spots through use of Naver’s AI services such as Papago and CLOVA.

Naver Cloud currently provides it cloud computing service to Jeju Tourism Organization for its “Big Data-Based Tourism Service Platform Development” project.
“We are extremely pleased that Naver Cloud’s AI technology and cloud platform are the foundation of smart tourism in Jeju Island.” said Director Han Sang-young of Naver Cloud. “We are going to make sure that we build a healthy cloud ecosystem by supporting tourism startup companies based on Jeju Island at the same time.”
The agreement ceremony was held at Jeju Welcome Center on Wednesday and it had President Ko Eun-sook and Department Head Hyeon Chang-heng of Jeju Tourism Organization and Director Han Sang-young and Department Head Lee Min-seok of Naver Cloud in attendance.
