Fully automatic mask production line that is able to process every mask production process including fabric manufacturing, quality inspection, and packaging at the same time has been developed by a South Korean company.
Alpha Robotics (President Han Wol-suk) announced on Monday that the company has developed a fully automatic mask production line called “3D Mask Inline System” and that it plans to supply the system to mask manufacturing industries in South Korea and other countries starting from next month.
“3D Mask Inline System” is a state-of-the-art mask manufacturing equipment that is able to carry out not only mask production but also the entire manufacturing process from defect inspection, sterilization, and to packaging at the same time. It is an inline system that combines mask manufacturing equipment, inspection equipment, and packaging equipment into single equipment.
Production line manufactures masks using necessary fabric and materials and passes the masks to inspection line. Inspection line then uses computer vision recognition technology and closely inspects faulty elements and sorts out defects. It also conducts tension test for ear loops. Masks are then packaged after going through sterilization process that uses UV sterilization.

The system is able to manufacture 3D KF masks (80, 94, 99) and KF-AD masks.
Although there are constant demands for masks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, mask manufacturers are now competing against one another through quality and productivity. It is important for them to manufacture better masks at a lower cost if they hope to survive in this competitive market.
“We now passed a period where mass-production of masks was needed. It is now important for mask manufactures to manufacture high-quality masks with high efficiency.” said President Han of Alpha Robotics. “3D Mask Inline System will raise competitive edge of the nation’s mask industry and mask manufacturing equipment industry and make a great contribution towards increasing number of exports that is necessary for economic recovery for the country.”
