The MSC (Media Solution Center) will be reduced and overseas organizations will be mended as well.

Samsung Electronics (SEC) will carry out a reshuffle as early as December. The IT & Mobile Communications (IM) Division will be reorganized in a big way.

According to industry insiders on December 7, SEC will soon finalize and announce its reorganization plan focused on improving work efficiency along with the restructuring of some business divisions. The announcement is most likely to be made on December 8, and within this week at the latest.

The biggest issue is the IM Division. 3 out of 7 CEOs already took the back seat, and 1 was relocated, reducing the number of CEOs to 3. Out of the 32 promoted to executive vice presidents, only 6 came from the IM Division. The number of executives in the IM Divisions was greatly reduced.

The IM Division takes the large-scale downsizing of Media Solution Center (MSC) for granted. Some say that SEC will x-out the MSC, but as Lee Joon, head of the Samsung Group Communications Team, said, “I understand that we are contemplating on how to improve the MSC,” the general consensus is that it will not be dissolved. As the Wireless Business Division of the IM Division was restructured due to its poor performance, some support organizations are forecast to be removed or integrated.

With the Device Solution (DS) Division, which performed well, expected to have no change, the Consumer Electronics (CE) Division is certain to be realigned. For starters, the organization and manpower in charge of the smart home in the MSC of the IM Division are rumored to be reshuffled. The necessity of creating synergies between the two divisions has been continuously mentioned inside SEC Samsung Electronics. One of the factors behind it is the fact that Yoon Boo-geun, CEO of the CE Division, who is also the head of the Digital Appliances Business Division, has a great interest in the smart home. However, as smart devices, home appliances and TVs must be interconnected in the smart home, it is also likely that a separate organization will be made. Besides, it is also very likely that the Medical Device Business Division will be merged with Samsung Medison, a subsidiary of SEC.

Overseas organizations are also forecast to have some changes. Since a Samsung insider said, “Next year we must greatly cut down our overseas marketing costs, and instead streamline our marketing,” a related organization shuffle is expected to follow.

Meanwhile, the only organizational realignment last year was the integration of the Digital Imaging Business Division, responsible for cameras, into the Wireless Business Division in the IM Division. It was a decision for creating synergies between the two business divisions.

MSC(미디어 솔루션 센터) 줄이고 해외조직도 손질
