World’s top-level technological power, will accelerate business expansion by securing reliability
LG unveiled energy solution products and technologies, the company’s next-generation growth power items.
LG participates in CEPSI 2014 started on the 27th and will show off its ‘complete energy value chain’ that covers from eco-friendly energy production to storage and utilization.
With its entire competencies mobilized, LG set up five exhibition areas under each theme of energy solution value chain.
In ‘Green Generation’ hall, LG Electronics showcased ‘Mono X NeOn,’ a photovoltaic module producing the highest efficiency and the largest output in Korea (300W) based on a 60-cell module. As the only photovoltaic product, Mono X NeOn was selected as one of the ‘Korea’s Top Ten New Technologies’ by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy last year. In addition, this product became a winner of the ‘InterSolar Award 2013’ held last year in Germany, and thus is evaluated to have competitive power both at home and abroad.
LG Chem was in charge of ‘Reliable Storage’ hall and ‘Effective Transmission & Distribution’ hall. The key products are energy storage systems (ESS). ESS products for frequency regulation (FR) to consistently maintain power quality, those for power peak reduction used during power peak hours and those for power generation facilities to store and release electricity generated using new and renewable energy sources were exhibited. In addition to ESS, a power conversion system (PCS) with a capacity of 1MW, the largest in Korea, was introduced. PCS is a facility to convert DC power generated and stored using new and renewable energy sources into AC power for utilization.
‘Efficient Consumption’ hall exhibits products and technologies that are related with electric vehicles. It shows core electric vehicle components ranging from electric vehicle battery packs with electricity storage capacity maximized at high density to electric vehicle motors, inverters and electro-compressor sets. Chargers and the related infrastructures with improved convenience and safety are also on display.
As for ‘New Sustainability’ Hall, the key is ‘microgrid solution’ centering on LG CNS. This is an energy management solution capable of not only real-time identification of power consumption status with a remote advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), but also big data analysis. LG CNS recently exchanged a MoU for developing Ulleungdo Island as an ‘Eco-friendly Energy-sustainable Island’ with Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government and Korea Electric Power Corporation.
“LG, which has secured competencies for complete energy value chain business covering from eco-friendly energy production to storage and utilization, is leading the domestic market,” said an LG source. “As we have secured world’s top-level technological power and reliability, we will further accelerate our energy solution business expansion in Korea and abroad.”

LG, 에너지 솔루션 공개... 그룹 내 역량 총동원
세계 최고 수준 기술력, 신뢰성 확보로 사업 확대 박차
LG가 차세대 성장동력인 에너지 솔루션 제품과 기술을 공개했다.
LG는 27일 막을 올린 ‘아시아?태평양 전력산업 콘퍼런스(CEPSI) 2014’에 참가해 친환경 에너지 생산부터 저장, 사용에 이르는 ‘완결형 에너지 밸류 체인(Value Chain)’ 역량을 뽐낸다.
LG는 그룹 내 역량을 총동원해 에너지 솔루션 밸류 체인별로 5개 전시관을 꾸몄다.
친환경에너지 생산(Green Generation)관에서는 LG전자가 60셀 모듈 기준 국내 최대 출력(300W)과 최고 효율(18.3%)을 달성한 태양광 모듈 ‘모노엑스네온(Mono X NeOn)’을 선보였다. 태양광 제품으로는 유일하게 지난해 산업통상자원부에서 주관하는 ‘대한민국 10대 신기술’에 선정됐다. 지난해 독일에서는 ‘인터솔라 어워드 2013 위너’를 수상하는 등 국내외에서 경쟁력을 갖췄다는 평가다.
안정적 저장(Reliable Storage)관과 효과적 송배전(Effective Transmission & Distribution)관은 LG화학이 맡았다. 대표 제품은 에너지저장장치(ESS)다. 전력 품질을 일정하게 유지하는 주파수 조정(FR)용과 값싼 심야 전기를 저장했다 전력피크 때 사용하는 전력피크저감용, 신재생에너지원에서 발생한 전기를 저장했다 내놓는 발전설비용 ESS 등 용도별로 나눠 전시했다. ESS와 함께 국내 최대 용량인 1㎿급 전력변환시스템(PCS)도 소개했다. PCS는 신재생에너지로 생산해 저장한 직류(DC) 전력을 실제 사용할 수 있는 교류(AC)로 변환하는 설비다.
효율적 소비(Efficient Consumption)관은 전기차와 관련한 제품과 기술로 꾸몄다. 고밀도로 전기 저장 용량을 극대화한 전기차 전용 배터리 팩부터 모터, 인버터, 전동 압축기 등 전기차 핵심 부품을 한눈에 볼 수 있게 했다. 편리성과 안전성을 강화한 충전기기, 인프라 등도 함께 선보였다.
새로운 지속가능성(New Sustainability)관은 LG CNS를 중심으로 한 ‘마이크로그리드 솔루션’이 핵심이다. 원격검침인프라(AMI)로 전력 사용 현황을 실시간으로 파악하는 동시에 빅데이터 분석까지 가능한 에너지 관리 솔루션이다. LG CNS는 최근 경상북도?한국전력과 공동으로 울릉도를 ‘친환경 에너지 자립섬’으로 조성하기 위한 양해각서를 교환키도 했다.
LG 관계자는 “친환경 에너지 생산부터 저장, 사용에 이르는 완결형 에너지 밸류 체인 사업 역량을 확보한 LG가 국내 시장을 선도하고 있다”며 “세계 최고 수준의 기술력과 신뢰성을 확보한 만큼 국내외 에너지 솔루션 사업 확대에 더욱 박차를 가할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
