The global battery industry is heating up with technological competition between South Korea, Japan and China to take over the rapidly expanding electric vehicle market. Battery Day, held for the second time following last year, will feature future technology strategies of companies representing South Korea's battery industries such as Hyundai Motor (R&D headquarters), a leading global automaker in South Korea, Samsung SDI, SK On, LG Chem, and POSCO Holdings (Research Institute of Technology).

Here, the latest technological trends in the battery process equipment and materials industry from PNT, ENPLUS, Hana Technology, and Dongwha Electrolyte, which are leading the K-battery ecosystem, will be introduced.

At the event, Hyundai Motor will introduce their strategy to develop EV batteries, focusing on the E-GMP battery technologies of the 'IONIQ 5' and Kia 'EV6', which are leading the global electric vehicle market.

SK On and Samsung SDI, the leading battery manufacturers in Korea, plan to unveil their future strategies under the themes of 'SK On's battery technology to lead the fast charging performance of electric vehicles' and 'Samsung SDI's EV battery future, material technology to overcome LIB limitations', respectively.

Various future battery material technologies will also be shown on Battery Day. LG Chem will announce their vision for cathode material technologies, which is at the core of EV batteries, and POSCO announced their roadmap for future material technologies such as cobalt free (Co-free) and cathode materials for solid-state batteries, silicon carbide (SiC) anode materials, and lithium (Li) metal anode materials. Dongwha Electrolyte plans to unveil battery electrolyte, additive direction, and next-generation electrolyte technology.

In the second half of the event, the market strategies and future technologies of South Korea's leading process equipment companies leading K-battery will also be introduced.

PNT will reveal the electrode process equipment technology trends, Hana Technology will disclose the direction of assembly equipment and next-generation equipment technology, and ENPLUS will share the electric vehicle conductive material technology trends.

This year's 'BATTERY DAY 2022' event consists of three sessions: battery cells, materials, and equipment. The event will be held both offline and online simultaneously, while strictly following the 'COVID-19' quarantine measures.
