Samsung Electronics announced on the 26th that "Samsung Electronics' semiconductor plant in Xi'an has returned to normal due to the improvement of the COVID-19 restriction situation."

The city of Xi'an imposed a lockdown on the 23rd of last month due to the spread of COVID-19. Citizens were banned from going out, and schools, offices, and public institutions were closed except for essential facilities. Samsung Electronics also started to adjust the operation of the production line at the NAND flash plant in Xi’an. It has been operating the production line while minimizing the movement of personnel at the NAND plant in Xi’an and responding to the supply and demand anxiety of raw materials.

Samsung Electronics officially resumed normal operation at its Xi'an plant, which had been adjusting production until the previous day, as personnel movement and logistics access improved to pre-lockdown period. Samsung Electronics' Xi'an plant is the only overseas NAND flash production base. NAND production capacity is estimated to be around 40% of total production.

Samsung Electronics said, "There is no problem with health and safety of the Chinese subsidiaries and partner employees. There was no issue with customer service due to the sacrificial dedication from the staff members.”
