LG Electronics has introduced its first 2020 flagship smartphone “LG V60 ThinQ 5G” that features two screens just like its previous model. However, it will be available in classy blue and classy white colors unlike its previous model that was only available in black color.
LG Electronics is going to introduce “LG V60 ThinQ 5G” in North America, Europe, and major Asian countries starting from next month. However, LG V60 ThinQ 5G will not be available in South Korea.
LG Electronics is making a new attempt to increase its sales by launching premium smartphones in North America and Europe while launching less-premium models in the domestic market.
As a result, it is looking to target demands within the 5G smartphone market in the U.S. early on through LG V60 ThinQ 5G and American telecommunications companies that are looking to establish 5G networks throughout the country this year. It is also planning to work with Japanese telecommunications companies that are expected to carry out aggressive marketing for their 5G networks during Tokyo 2020.
By deciding not to have its flagship smartphone available in the domestic market, it is looking to make profits within the global 5G market that is growing at a rapid pace.

In addition, it is also going to work on improving its profitability by having its economic models manufactured by ODMs (Original Design Manufacturer). On the other hand, it is planning to launch “mass premium” models that have reasonable prices in the domestic market in the second quarter considering the fact that South Korea’s 5G market has become stabilized and that consumers in South Korea are gradually leaning towards inexpensive models due to regulations such as Mobile Device Distribution Improvement Act.
“By implementing flexible strategies, we are going to target the global smartphone market and improve the image of our brand.” said a representative for LG Electronics.
LG V60 Thinq5 5G features 6.8-inch display and 5,000mAh battery. It has 10MP front camera placed as a waterdrop notch display. Its dual screen is made up of OLED panels and is available in white color that will be a new available color.
On the rear, it has 64MP main camera and 13MP super-wide-angle camera. It also has Z camera (ToF). Its main camera is applied with dual pixel PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) technology and supports 8K video.
It has a differentiated audio recording function through its four-channel microphone system. It provides “voice bokeh” function that only records voice without any background noise. It is also applied with an audio processing technology called “LG 3D Sound Engine” that is current applied to LG Electronics’ OLED TVs.
It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset and X55 5G modem. Its RAM is 8GB while its storage is available in 128GB or 256GB. It is likely that it will be priced lower than its previous model LG V50 ThinQ ($1,155 (1.4 million KRW)).
“Our strategy is to introduce different 5G smartphones according to increased demands from consumers.” said Lee Yeon-mo who is the head of LG Electronics’ MC Business Headquarters. “LG V60 ThinQ will be the ideal smartphone for consumers who create and share 5G contents.”
