Lee Sang-min, who is a member of The National Assembly, held a special meeting with a topic ‘Can Blockchain Be Treated Separately from Cryptocurrency?’ at The National Assembly.
This special meeting was co-hosted by Chairman No Woong-rae of The National Assembly’s Scientific Technology Information Broadcasting Telecommunication Committee and it had about 50 people such as blockchain experts and representatives and reporters in attendance.

At this meeting, Chairman Hong Joon-young of Korea FinTech Federation and Professor Han Ho-hyun of Kyunghee University gave presentations with topics ‘3 Strategies for South Korea to Become a Blockchain Stronghold’ and ‘Blockchain’s Revolution, Strategies for Dealing Blockchain Separately from Cryptocurrency’ respectively. Topics such as policies for making South Korea a blockchain stronghold and forming an ecosystem to promote blockchain industry were also discussed.
“We are certain that industries that utilize blockchain technology will bring in profits for South Korea in the future. However, people still view blockchain technology as cryptocurrency that is related with speculation.” said Lee Sang-min. “We need to create a foundation to secure global leadership and competitive edge in blockchain by separating it from cryptocurrency. We are going to push for laws that will promote blockchain technologies and industries that will provide systematic and financial supports for development of blockchain industry in South Korea.”
