Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital will be the first out of financial industry to push for coexisting security project along with its 67 partners.
Not only are Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital going to exchange practical affairs with their partners, but they are also going to carry out various information security investments to prevent threats from cyber-attacks from the beginning. They have been hinting about co-security as Vice-Chairman Jung Tae-young of Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital himself a held a meeting on information security for their partners and they have been sharing security management packages.
According to IT and financial industries, Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital are planning to enhance their inner information security and recognize security problems of their partners as their own problems.
They are going to provide security management packages that are consisted of ‘management standards and guidelines and styles’ to enhance security capabilities of their partners and they have enhanced investments that raise management standards of their partners through meetings.
“CEO’s will and interest are the most important factors when it comes to information security.” said Vice-Chairman Jung Tae-young at a meeting that was recently held for representatives of partners of Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital. “We are going to share our knowhow with our partners and systematically manage every security process that is connected to our partners and establish universal security infrastructures.”

They are going to apply evaluations on various items such as PC system set-up, personal information management, and security information and policies and share results from evaluations with their partners as well. They are not going to perform formal inspections, but they are going to diversify inspection items according to revision of laws and trends and exchange security information that can be actually helpful for their partners. Due to change in environment of digital-related work, they recently tightened up their inspections on devices.
They have decided to apply various security solutions to PCs and supply them to their partners. Also, they have decided to prepare preventive measures towards leakage of personal information along with their partners to minimize further damage. To carry out their plans, they are going to provide various security-related educations and free software information to their partners.
It is shown that hackers have recently targeted companies with relatively weaker security when large corporations have tightened up their security systems.
This is a reason why security systems of primary partners that deal with major semiconductor businesses such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix has emerged as a hot issue.
Many companies that deal with large corporations do not have enough abilities to enhance their security systems since they are afraid of financial burden from costs that will go into construction and operation of relevant infrastructures. Although large corporations want to request their partners to tightened up their security systems, they are hesitant to do so because it can be seen as somewhat of ‘power harassment’.
“We are going to continue to support our partners so that they are not excluded from security issues.” said a representative for Hyundai Card.
