It has become possible to pay for actual products with cryptocurrencies that are issued by popular foreign personnel such as Michael Owen and Manny Pacquiao.
Pundi X announced that it signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with GCOX, which is a ‘celebrity cryptocurrency exchange’.
GCOX is a global platform that helps popular personnel to issue and list their own tokens. Fans can collect cryptocurrencies from celebrities that they like as commemorations or use them on GCOX’s social media platform. Recently, a British soccer player Michael Owen and a Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao released ‘Owen Coin’ and ‘Pacquiao Coin’ respectively. GCOX’s exchange has its base in UAE.

With this partnership, it is possible now to use celebrity cryptocurrencies in real life. Previously, Pundi X introduced ‘XPOS Smart POS Terminal’ for retail stores and ‘XPASS’ Card for consumers. It is possible to make payments with cryptocurrencies at Pundi X’s affiliates with XPOS installed. Pundi X is also planning to provide separate POS devices just for GCOX.
“With this partnership, people will be able to use ‘Owen Coin’ and ‘Pacquiao Coin’ through our POS devices.” said CEO Zac Cheah of Pundi X.
