Nexon is planning to release its mobile RPG (Role-Playing Game) called ‘Dark Avenger 3’ on the 27th of July and is also going to introduce its game to global markets by end of this year.
“We are going to introduce Dark Avenger 3through Google Play and Apple App Store on the 27th of July.” said Vice-President Lee Jung-heon of Nexon at Dark Avenger 3 Media Showcase that was held at Seoul Grand Intercontinental Parnas on the 8th.
Dark Avenger 3 was made by Boolean Games, which is one of Nexon’s subsidiaries. Its previous series called ‘Dark Avenger’ and ‘Dark Avenger 2’ currently have 35 million users worldwide. Nexon is going to recruit preliminary subscribers starting from the 8th.
“Dark Avenger 3 inherits strengths of its previous series and has variety of things to enjoy with a strong storyline and graphic that surpasses limitations of mobile games and action that is equivalent to console games.” said Vice-President Lee.
Nexon is going to release Android OS and iOS versions of Dark Avenger 3 in South Korea on the 27th of July and release it in 14 different languages in foreign countries excluding Japan and China by end of this year. Nexon is planning to release it in Japanese and Chinese markets sequentially in 2018.
“Dark Avenger 3 is our ambitious work that we are going to introduce after developing Dark Avenger series and integrating our knowhow that we have accumulated.” said CEO Park Seung-cheol of Boolean Games. “We put in so much work to show Dark Avenger 3’s own special attraction.”
Dark Avenger 3 will be the main game out of all Nexon’s games that will be release during second half of this year. After releasing its mobile game called ‘Heat’ at the end of 2015, Nexon did not have many games that have become very popular in markets. However it has been solidifying its position in mobile game markets by introducing paid games or experimental games.
Dark Avenger 3 will compete against ‘Lineage 2 Revolution’ and ‘Lineage M’ in South Korean markets. Lineage 2 Revolution, which was released by Netmarble Games at the end of last year, has been the top game based on number of sales in South Korean market for half year. NCSoft will release Lineage M on the 21st of June.
Linage 2 Revolution and Lineage M are MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) and are different from Dark Avenger 3 which is MORPG (Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game).
However all three games share meaningful and important users who spend more than tens of dollars per month in this market. In fact after Lineage 2 Revolution was released, it is heard that other top RPGs could not avoid losing $890,000 (100 million KRW) in sales per day during last first quarter.
“Although MMORPG are very popular and showing positive results in markets, there are still many users that enjoy MORPG’s unique action.” said Department Head No Jung-hwan of Nexon Mobile Game Business Headquarters. “What is most important is to make entertaining games with high level of completion in corresponding genres.”
