Blueprint for Industry 4.0 is going to be held in South Korea.
An event where one can see both current address and future image of Industry 4.0 is going to be held in South Korea.
International ICT (Information Communication Technology) exhibition called ‘WIS (World IT Show) 2017’, which is the biggest ICT exhibition in Asia, is going to be held at KOEX that is located in Samsung-dong on the 24th and is going to be held for four days until the 27th with a topic of ‘ICT (Transform Everything)’. Ministry of Science, ICP and Future Planning (MSIP) and Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy will host and sponsor WIS 2017 respectively while Korea Association for ICT Promotion, The Electronic Times, The Korea Economic Daily, Korea International Trade Association, KOEX, and K. Fairs Ltd. supervise WIS 2017.
WIS 2017 will be an opportunity to share trends of technologies and industries that take place based on ICT and to increase insight regarding Industry 4.0.
This will be the tenth year of WIS and it is expected that WIS 2017 will be the biggest exhibition out of all previous WIS.
While 452 companies from 18 countries participated in WIS 2016, about 500 ICT companies from 57 countries are going to participate in this year’s WIS. It is also estimated that number of spectators will increase from 120,000 last year to 200,000 this year which is about 60% increase.
South Korean and foreign businesses such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK Telecom, KT, Hyundai Motor Company, and Qualcomm are going to introduce their high-tech technologies and services and products that will lead Industry 4.0 in 5 categories such as 5G, VR (Virtual Reality), and AR (Augmented Reality), IoT (Internet of Things), drone, Smart Car, IT service and SW (Software), and AI (Artificial Intelligence).
Major businesses have chosen WIS 2017 as a stage to introduce their next-generation ICT services and products for the first time.
SK Telecom is going to introduce ‘T Remote Eye V2X’, which is an automotive telecommunication technology that increases safety of a driver, for the first time. It is going to introduce applied services that inform drivers about sudden brake from a car in front and remaining of signal from a traffic light.
LG Electronics is going to introduce ‘LG Pay’ which will be commercialized through G6 next month and is going to prepare an area where spectators can experience LG Pay. LG Electronics has planned to provide LG Pay service by partnering up with 8 different credit card companies.
Startup companies and small and medium companies that are innovative are also going to introduce differentiated products and services. It is likely that Partron, which received an innovative award of ‘Fitness & Technology’ at CES 2017 for its portable medical center ,and Smart Wellness, which had drawn attention with its IoT-based Smart Toys at MWC 2017, will draw attention from spectators at WIS 2017.
Thing that differentiates WIS 2017 from other exhibitions is that it is going to hold various supplementary and concurrent events at the same time. ‘Leading Industry 4.0’ and ‘ICT Future Talent Forum’ for promoting quality talents and ‘Business Meeting’ for pioneering global markets for small and medium companies are going to be held at WIS 2017.
99 companies from 16 countries will participate in ‘Business Meeting’. MSIP is expecting that it will be possible to have $50 million of export this year which will be 20% more than last year’s export at $39 million.
‘ICT Technology Commercialization Festival’ will share successful stories of excellent technologies and transfer and commercialization of these technologies in an area of information communication created through government support. ‘Global ICT Forecast Conference’ is going to provide insight to prepare for up-to-date ICT information and the future.
It is likely that this year’s WIS will be a more fruitful exhibition than any other years as ‘Korea-Asian ICT Investment Promotion Seminar’ and ‘Market Issue Workshop’, ‘Technology Commercialization Public Hearing’, and ‘ICT Small and Medium Companies Investment Attraction Presentation’ that are for preparation of Industry 4.0 are going to be held for the first time.
“There is a need for South Korea, which possesses world’s best network infrastructures and high capability in ICT, to utilize Industry 4.0 as a new opportunity to develop this country.” said Minister Choi Yang-hee of MSIP. “It is meaningful that we are able to forecast future society that is to come by confirming Industry 4.0”
