Sonictier (CEO Park Seung-min) has developed multi-channel sound contents manufacturing software for UHD broadcasting and has declared its challenge against Dolby sound markets with its own technologies.
Sonictier’s UHD sound contents manufacturing software called ‘STA UHD Producer’ supports 10.2 channels and it can maximize stereophonic sound effects compared to 5.1 channels and 7.1 channels. It is optimized for UHD broadcasting with its ability to manufacture contents with ultra-high quality.
Sonictier’s stereophonic sound technologies have distinguished themselves at movie theaters. Sonictier developed audio processor codec with ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) in 2014 and applied it to movie theaters such as CGV, Lotte Cinema, and Megabox. 40 movies such as Masquerade, Snowpiercer, Roaring Currents, The Himalayas, and Assassination chose Sonictier’s stereophonic sound technologies.
“As number of movie theaters that introduce stereophonic sound technologies increases, number of contents also increases.” said CEO Park Seung-min. “Environments where our technologies can be solidified as standards of sound technologies are now prepared.”
This indicates that there have to be many contents that are compatible to Sonictier’s technologies in order for them to be standards of sound technologies. Sonictier registered 27 and 13 related patents in South Korea and foreign countries respectively.
Sonictier has challenged UHD markets with technical skills that it has been accumulating in markets for movie sounds. It believes that sound technologies that are suitable for UHD broadcasting are needed when regular UHD programs start in February of 2017 in South Korea. Since discussions about UHD broadcasting are also active in China and the U.S., it will be able to enter foreign markets as well. STA UHD producer is the result of stereophonic technology that is necessary for UHD broadcasting.
Sonictier has utilized current platforms such as Pro Tools and Nuendo program that are dominating 90% of global audio manufacturing markets. Installments will be easy as they support plug-in method.
“Dynamics of current Dolby sound technology markets will change in UHD generations.” said CEO Park. “We will be able to see success in foreign markets as well as domestic UHD markets.”
