A small South Korean company has developed a world’s thinnest rapid wireless charger for Smartphones. While it has same performance as any Smartphone manufacturers’ chargers, it is thinner and lighter than them. Its design also can be changed freely and it is expected to have high responses in markets for wireless charging accessories.
Pincraft Engineering (CEO Kim Jae-beom) made an announcement on the 23rd that it has developed a rapid wireless charging pad with 9.9mm of thickness. This thickness is the thinnest out of all wireless chargers that are on markets and it is also the lightest charger with a weight of only 43g. Its dimension is 66.8x84.2mm.
Its performance is identical to Smartphone manufacturers’ chargers. With 9V and 1.67A, it provides 9W of power. It operates under 5W and 9W for normal charging and rapid charging respectively. It can completely charge Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S7 in just 2 hours and is compatible to all Smartphones that support wireless charging.
Pincraft’s product will be released as a finished product sometime in the middle of next month by its customer. When Pincraft delivers its basic pad after designing it according to requests from accessory manufacturers, it is then sold to its customers. In last year, Pincraft had supplied about 400,000 ultra-thin wireless charging pads to Anymode.
Although output of products that were sold last year was 5W, this new product has an output of 9W and is capable of rapid charging. It has expanded its wireless charging technology that was secured by Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd. to after-markets and is targeting after accessory manufacturers such as Anymode.

Pincraft has implemented an ultra-thin and ultra-light design by solving a heating problem with PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design. It does not require a separate radiator and it operates under 45°C. Since it does not require a radiator, its size and unit cost can be reduced. It can also respond to consumers’ demands of low cost by costing under $21.89 (25,000 KRW).
Above everything else, it has high usage as an accessory since its design can be changed freely. It can be used for Smartphone holders for vehicles and character products. Pincraft is planning to export its product to other markets through its business with accessory manufacturers.
As markets for wireless charging have opened up, Pincraft expected that there will be increased demands for accessories. As there are more Smartphones that support wireless charging, there are more specialized products that have variety of designs.
Pantech, which is a Smartphone manufacturer, put out ‘STONE’ that acts as a wireless charger and a speaker at the same time it released its new product called ‘SKY IM-100’. It has drawn many attentions as it has functions such as indoor lighting and speaker with a polished design. It is important to make wireless charging pads smaller if one wants to implement products with variety of designs.
“Biggest strength of this pad is that it can be manufactured in variety of designs.” said a spokesperson for Pincraft Engineering. “We are going to sell our products to global accessory markets.”
