KT has launched ‘KT 5G Development Forum’ to make 5G come true during Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in 2018. This forum has set a goal of co-development to commercialize and service ‘Pyeongchang 5G regulations’ by February of 2018 and has many global businesses such as Samsung Electronics, Nokia and others participating.
KT and participants will development devices and system for 5G and will verify compatibility between manufacturers’ equipment that are different from each other. To provide tangible service for users, they will also develop solutions and devices and carry out field tests that connect these to 5G system equipment.

Not only is KT predicting that ‘KT 5G Development Forum’ will contribute towards vitalization of 5G industry ecosystem in the future, but it is also predicting that it will lead strategic solidarity between global telecommunication businesses that are interested in commercializing 5G early.
“KT 5G Development Forum will commercialize Pyeongchang 5G common regulations that are developed by KT and verify compatibility between devices and equipment and will be a starting point to provide 5G demonstration service stably during Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.” said Vice-President Oh Sung-mok of KT.
KT earlier formed ‘Pyeongchang 5G Regulation Consultative Body’ with global manufacturers in November of last year to provide 5G demonstration service during Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and had developed and confirmed on ‘Pyeongchang 5G regulations’ that include major technologies for modems for devices and methods of connection between base stations and devices in March of this year.
