Positive trend is showing up for Galaxy S7 as number of daily average MNP (Mobile Number Portability) of Galaxy S7 is surpassing 25,000 during early-stage of its release date. This is a value that also includes MNP from MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) and there about 3,000 more cases now than early-stage of Galaxy S6’s release date. Although Galaxy S7 was able to display effect of new product, most people believe that overall sales volume and trend of markets need to be seen for little bit longer since markets that allow phones to be changed while having a same mobile telecommunication business have gotten bigger.

According to mobile telecommunication industry on the 14th, value of MNP for Galaxy S7 on the day it was released (3/11) and the second day from its release date in all mobile telecommunication markets were 27,281 and 23,740 respectively. Its daily average MNP is 25,510 and it has 2,743 more cases than Galaxy S6’s daily average MNP (22,767) during three days (4/10, 4/11, 4/13) since Galaxy S6’s release date.

Compared to MNP in January and February, MNP has definitely increased. Daily average MNPs in January and February were 19,125 and 19,934 respectively and daily average MNP has increase by 5,000 to 6,000 during past weekend. If daily average MNPs from just 3 mobile telecommunication businesses are looked at, January and February’s daily average MNP, which was between 14,000 and 15,000, has increased by more than 5,000 at 20,758 after Galaxy S7 was released.

This is a good start for Galaxy S7 if its success is only seen by MNP. However most people believe that trend of markets need to be based on progress of sales volume for 2 to 3 weeks. MNP is an indirect index to estimate trend of markets. Because number of cases when only phones are changed and not mobile telecommunication businesses has surpassed M NP after Mobile Distribution Improvement Act was implemented, it is hard to decide a phone’s success just by MNP.

It is estimated that about 80,000 Galaxy S7s were sold on the 11th and the 12th of March, and this value comes little bit short to Galaxy S6’s sales on the first two days from its release date at about 90,000. Because Apple and LG Electronics are soon to release their new phones, industries are interested how their new products will affect sales volume of Galaxy S7.

“Because distribution networks are getting bigger and number of online sales is increasing, it is hard to judge trend of markets just from reactions from distribution industry and MNP.” said a representative for a mobile telecommunication business. “We will actually be able to see Galaxy S7’s real success after looking at trend of actual sales volume of Samsung Electronics’ competitors’ new products that will be released this month and next month.”

During a competition between 3 mobile telecommunication businesses on the past weekend, SK Telecom and LG Uplus had enjoyed some fun. On the first day of Galaxy S7’s release date, there were 756 cases of increase in MNP for SK Telecom while KT had to suffer a decrease in MNP by 771 (-771). LG Uplus saw an increase in MNP by 15. KT emphasized that this decrease in MNP was mostly from tablet PCs for business customers and not from cellphones.

On the second day from Galaxy S7’s release date, SK Telecom saw a decrease in MNP by 493 (-493) while KT and LG Uplus saw an increase in MNP by 181 and 312 respectively. Ultimately SK Telecom and LG Uplus saw their members increase by 263 and 327 respectively while KT saw its members decrease by 590.
