Development of trial network, which is to verify 5G mobile telecommunication technology and performance of service, is about to start.

SK Telecom made an announcement on the 11th that it exchanged memorandum of understanding with Ericsson for development of 5G trial network.

While these two businesses are going to research and develop technologies that are needed to link 5G phones, wireless network, and wired infrastructures, they are also going to provide environments where customers can experience 5G technologies and services by establishing trial network. SK Telecom is predicting that 5G will be able to send contents such as holograms, virtual realities and others that require massive amount of capacity and cannot be send with current network speed.

“After exchanging memorandum of understanding with SK Telecom in July of 2017 about developing and researching 5G, we have been closely working together until now.” said Per Navinger who is in charge of development of all Ericsson’s wireless products. “Based on 5G trial network in the future, we are going to lead evolution of global 5G technologies.”
