Daum Kakao announced on the 31st that it is introducing open chatting function that allows an user to start a conversation with another person with just a single link without adding friends’ telephone numbers or IDs.

By making an open chatting room within KakaoTalk and sharing a link for that chatting room that is automatically created, an user can immediately start a conversation with having another person clicking on a corresponding link. This is KakaoTalk’s third type of chatting other than public and private chatting and it can be started with just a link without any additional steps to add friends and profiles can be newly set up within each chatting room.

One can use this function by first clicking on ‘+’ icon that is located at the bottom of ‘chatting’ tap list and selecting ‘open chatting’. An user needs to first select a name of a chatting room, a background picture, a profile, and a desirable type between one-on-one and group chatting room, and then click on ‘finish’ if he or she wants to create a link for that particular open chatting room. “We want to provide a way for people to have easier and more convenient time of chatting without any inconvenience about having personal information being exposed and steps to add friends.” said Daum Kakao.
