“New business that will lead Alibaba’s future industry is to promote mobile-based Cloud and Big Data. These two skills will bring great innovation to financial markets and O2O field. Alibaba is planning to focus our capabilities on wireless device-based Cloud and Big Data industry.”

After visiting Korea 3 times, Mawin Chairmanof Alibaba spoke his mind about future industry at a meeting with reporters that took place at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan. He is focusing on totally different O2O business and emphasized that it will be based on Cloud and Big Data technologies.

He revealed that O2O business will not be offline-based online, but online-based offline. In payment gateway markets such as Alipay, there will be an innovation that will change traditional business completely.

“Over 90% of world’s payment is based on IT and future payment market will be based on data technology (DT). Although this will be a great challenge for businessmen who rely on traditional payment, this will be a great opportunity for us.” Chairman Mawin elaborated on the importance of future payment markets.

Alibaba will negotiate with Apple about working together on mobile payment gateways. “We are currently in a discussion with Apple about mobile payment gateway field. Both of companies want cooperation on variety of businesses other than payment gateway.” Chairman Mawin said about the current situation about the cooperation between Alibaba and Apple. He also implied that his company will work on starting another joint business with Apple by first finishing well on its joint business in mobile payment.

He also opened possibilities of investments from Korean startup enterprises. “After visiting Korea, I already received letters of intent from 3 enterprises. We are going to find a business that can make the world as one big neighbor by using culture contents, Cloud, and Big Data technologies.” He said about possibility of working together with different enterprises in the world.

He firmly said no to the question of whether he has an intention of entering into Korean market.

“There is no chance that we will operate a shopping mall in Korea. It seems like Korea has a lot of concerns about Alibaba possibly entering into Korean market. We think that Korea is worried about small e-commerce businesses will take hits as we enter into their market, but it is actually the total opposite. We want variety of e-commerce businesses to grow through and with us.” He said about Alibaba not going into Korean market and that small businesses don’t have to worry about it.

He hinted at he wants to close relationship with Samsung.

“I already met with Vice Chairman Lee, JaeYong of Samsung twice and personally visited Samsung headquarter. I was able to learn tactical thinking regarding wireless mobile. We already have cooperation with Samsung in certain fields and I want to continuously learn many things from Vice Chairman President Lee.” He disclosed his feelings about Samsung and its Vice Chairman.
