It is now possible to produce a domestic Pin tech chip for the use of MST. It is expected that propagation of MST-style payment skills and demand for domestic Pin tech chips will increase.

A fabless semiconductor company, Zinitix CEO Son, Jong Man announced on the 6th ZF100, which is the first domestic Pin tech chip for mobile payments based on MST. It also released a popular ZF110 that carries critical functions.

One of the representatives of a payment method based on MST is called ‘Samsungpay’, which Samsung made by buying Looppay. It works by building in magnetic information that is on the back of a credit card onto the Smartphone and paying by a wireless method. Because it has a same method as a previous credit card’s magnetic method, card stores don’t have to switch previous payment card reader.

MST based solution that was first introduced by Texas Instruments (TI) was made up of widely-used driver IC, road switch that is intended to block battery voltage and interference, and wireless-charged antenna. Zinitix first put together two devices into a chip and reduced its area by a third. While the chip previously needed antenna for each wireless charge and MST payment, now one antenna supports both of them. Its recognition ability increased tremendously by having 1.5 times of current drive ability to the ones from foreign countries.

Within a year of merging with Withusvision, Zinitix developed the Pin tech chip. It actively used patent technologies that it already had such as motor control and signal control during the development process.

“We developed this Pin tech chip based on BLDC motor drive IC, Voice Coil Motor (VCM), and signal control technologies that we already had before.” Representative Son Jong Man revealed about the development process. “We were able to achieve a successful outcome by equally using manpower for analog and digital plans that we already had at Zinitix and Withusvision.
