LG Electronics will be releasing their ‘all new premium smart phone’ in this later half of the year. It is vision to have to have design and function that surpasses the previous premium G series. The purpose of this smart phone is obviously to go head-to-head with Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy. LG plans to raise their this year’s smart phone sales up to 30% growth.
MC business president Junho Cho of LG Electronics spoke on the 3rd (local time) at the Barcelona press conference about their future smart phone business plans and goals. User experience (UX), reinforcement of software, unique design are the main goals that president Cho had revealed.
President Cho said, “Our first goal is to make a smart phone that can be easily used and enjoyed by anyone. Second is to improve our display functions including camera and graphics. Third is to create unique designs by emphasizing analog feel.
He also revealed their premium line up plans. He believes G series have claimed their spot in the premium market. He announced that they will be releasing a new smart phone of higher quality and specifications later in the year.
The anticipated new smart phone is separate one from the G3’s sequel model, which will be released in the 2nd quarter.
Because the upcoming product is separate from G Series, it is hard to expect detailed specifications and functions of it. Knowing that G3’s releasing price was 799,700 won, the price will be over 800,000 won at the minimum.
One of the reporters asked whether the smart phone was going to be metal material based phone, he answered, “Because the metal design is becoming generalized in the phone market, we are planning something new and alternate way to design other that just using metal materials.”
He also stressed the need for reader application processor (AP). Last year they released their first smart phone with AP ‘NUCLUN’ installed. There are some parts that are deficient but the sequel model of 2nd and 3rd generation will have made to perfection.
President Cho said, “There were many concerns after taking the MC business president spot last year but now I’m confident that we have chance against other companies’ highly popular smart phones.”
