Korea’s small and venture businesses have set out to target Japan’s IT market despite the low yen trend.

While Korea and Japan are experiencing political and economic difficulties, domestic small and venture businesses equipped with competitive power have produced a considerable outcome from consultation. As much as so, a greater performance is expected in the future.

35 small and venture IT companies participated in ‘Korea ? Japan ICT Business Exchange’ held in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan from the 18th to the 20th and gave business consulting and startup pitching sessions.

Domestic small and venture companies strictly selected from mobile, cloud, Internet of things, communications, broadcasting and ICT convergence fields attended the event, which was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by KOTRA.

As for the first round of the event held in Tokyo, Japan on the 18th, around 100 primary and secondary partners of Japan’s global IT companies and key enterprises attended the event and signed contracts on the spot. As such, they showed a high level of interest in Korea’s small and venture IT companies.

Korean companies attending the event on the day recorded as many as 286 consulting cases, which add up to a value of $129.36 million. With each company completing 8.2 cases of consulting on an average, the overall achievement was two ? three times larger than those of similar events. In particular, some companies succeeded in concluding contracts or discussed contract negotiation schedules in detail on the spot.

In fact, a digital signage maker Sky System concluded a contract on the spot with a Japanese company A to supply products for installation in the expressways in Japan over three years to a scale of $9 million. Sky System will expand cooperation with A, such as by installing a showroom in Japan jointly with A in February next year.

In this event, ‘Startup Korea in Japan’ jointly hosted by KOTRA and Japan’s Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support and participated by 15 Korean startups was also held.

12 venture businesses gave presentations and 14 companies provided individual consulting services. Around 50 global IT companies and venture capitals that are interested in Korea’s startups attended the sessions.

In particular, this event provided an opportunity for the participating companies to give one-on-one consultation following their introductions. This was aimed at helping the companies directly find their business partners.

“Through this event, I received a positive impression about Korean startups,” said Global Brain CEO Yasuhiko Yurimoto who attended the event. “We are highly interested in products that can also be used in Japan. So, we attended a number of consulting sessions with the participating companies.”

“Despite the difficult conditions, the interest in Korea’s small and venture IT companies in Japan is very high,” said KOTRA Strategic Marketing Director Kim Seong-su. “Hopefully, this achievement will lead to good opportunities for Korean companies’ entry to the Japanese market.”

국내 IT 중소?

<35개의 IT 중소?

35개 IT 중소?
